In the battle of the open-source mobile platforms, developers have at least two choices: Google Android, or Symbian.
For me, Symbian has been fallen that nobody knows what their next move is. Android on the other hand promised, delivered and even exceeded some expectations. In the other words, Android has a modern development model, while Symbian is so last-century. I think it’s time for Symbian to revamp their marketing else they may lose in the end.

Besides that, Google has so many integrated applications over the web (gmail, calender, reader, docs etc) and the native support for them on the device is a reason enough for success. Other feature like your whole address book is sync with gmail so you don’t really have to worry about backup. Such features and support really add to the platform.
